I was honoured when Interpol’s Paul Banks asked me to play drums on his score for Karan Kandhari’s debut feature, Sister Midnight. Last week, Partisan Records released the film’s soundtrack.
Karan said of Paul’s work, “His music doesn’t appear as a traditional score. This is not background music — these are musical centerpieces married to the most crucial scenes in the film. Also, it takes real talent to go toe-to-toe against the Stooges and Motörhead on a soundtrack, and Paul does this effortlessly. I’m so happy fans get to hear not only the music he made that was on screen but a whole host of unreleased gems from his sessions.”
‘Sister Midnight’ was nominated for Outstanding British Debut at this year’s Bafta Awards, and nominated at Cannes Film Festival for the Golden Camera award and in Director’s Fortnight, and also nominated for four Bifa awards, and won Best Picture in the Next Wave Award at Austin’s Fantastic Fest.
Thanks for having me along for the psychedelic ride gents.
