It took a fair amount of string-pulling, but we did it. That’s right, we got legendary music writer and critic, Vince Aletti, to sit down with us and talk all things disco. Aletti has been championing disco for decades, ever since the earliest days of the genre, and has most definitely become one of the most important voices on the scene. We can’t tell you what an honour it was to speak to him.
Dirty Soup Presents... Skateistan
It's always exciting when something different comes along. And the Skateistan film project we just finished with up-and-coming British filmmaker, Coral Brown, and unimpeachable urban style manual, Highsnobiety, was certainly different. We engaged composer and former M83 collaborator Morgan Kibby, AKA White Sea, to create a bespoke piece to score the short, and the results were fantastic.

The IPA is 100 years old this year, and to celebrate that momentous milestone they’re throwing the Festival of British Advertising. To mark the occasion they’ve also commissioned this nostalgic super-spot, featuring some of the most iconic ads of the last century.

We ran a panel during Advertising Week NYC on the subject of bands and aspiring artists in the age of the algorithm. The discussion was far-reaching, with everything up for grabs, from the risible returns artists get from some streaming services, to the limitations the creators of ads encounter when it comes to commissioning new musical work.
